The story:
Men and baby carrots. Beautiful women are almost always irresistible to men. I would even avow that it is well-nigh impossible to reject a really stunning woman. I know very few men who would not succumb to the temptation of an attractive woman should the opportunity arise. In describing female physical attributes, it's quite usual to use expressions from completely different subject areas as some sort of metaphor. For example the German expression "Holz vor der Hutte" (literally: wood in front of the hut) is used to refer to a woman who has a large bust in relation to the rest of her body. Men try to come up with images that immediately describe what they are trying to say - although some of their observations are certainly not in line with every man's idea of beauty.
"The 500 Carrot" is a visual interpretation of the term "Fahrgestell", literally meaning the chassis of a car. This term is often used colloquially to refer to a long-legged, slim-bodied woman. And it's not only those car-freaks who find a car just as appealing as a woman, who use this term. Bearing all this in mind the viewer will notice a name plate in the painting, rather like those that you might find on a car.
This serves as an aid for the precise identification of painted beauty - from a masculine point of view. The woman lies in an inviting pose on an unspecified table or bed, like a dish that has just been served up. She is just in the process of pulling down her underwear - for a man, a clear message that she is ready for sex. In reference to my painting "Heisshunger", the woman is painted in orange - the color of the carrot. In addition I have painted her hair and those implements not connected to her body in green, reminiscent of the green carrot top. The mechanical utensils have been left in the foreground by a man who is not depicted in the picture. It appears that he wants to fix the name plate to his baby carrot as a clear symbol of his ownership.
Of course my painted contribution is meant humorously. But: the unconscious masculine thoughts and views are constantly recognizable. And so it is that my baby carrot is smiling, more or less.
