A Trip Into The Holier-Than-Thou-Land
Thema: Religion, Politics und Power
Mastertapes, oil on canvas, 2009 - in progress
Description:
What I as a painter can achieve through my pictures is a shift of perspectives which is necessary
in the most positive sense. For this, no one naturally needs to fundamentally relinquish his own
position, but the willingness to step into the other’s shoes is absolutely necessary. As this
is not always possible in the day-to-day life together and in the search for solutions, I as
Pinselartist® move into the varying positions and take on
the respective perspectives. Only distance and the willingness to change perspective truly opens
one’s eyes. In the final analysis, this is consistent and open humanism in painted form.

Beach of my Dreams
Theme: Human egoism and improvidence
Mastertapes, acrylic on canvas, 2003
Description:
Sometimes through lack of attention or pure egoism, other people force us to alter our course. All of us have experienced this on the roads, forced to alter either pace or course by speed merchant or slow crawler. The same thing occurs on the beach, albeit far less frequently.

Mastertapes, oil on canvas, 1989 - 2004
Description: In investigating still-life paintings, we can quickly determine that objects were used to portray a particular message. To ascertain whether this technique could also work with a self-portrait, Ralf Metzenmacher set about an exploration of his own creation.
